Nearly 18 months ago I decided to invest in a new PC, with lots of hard disk and RAM to play around. I started with the basic software packages, like I
always do. Initially every thing was fine, my system would boot up quickly and applications would run fast. As time past, and I installed more and more
software on my machine, It's then I started seeing a steady decline in my PC Performance. System boot time was taking longer than usual. Applications would
run slower and above all there was a drastic reduction in the way my PC was responding. This became seriously evident with Graphic intensive applications.
I have been wondering what can be done to improve performance and response time. As I dug deep into matters, I realized a few things which we may do, to keep
the PC Performance high.
Here are a few tips, if you want to keep your PC performance good for a long time.
1. Hard disk partition : If there is a single hard disk in your system, partition only if you have to. It is always tempting to partition the hard disk, as
it makes data management easier, please ensure that you keep your "System Area" as big as possible. "System Area" is where your "Operating System" is located
and this is always your "Primary Partition". Once your Operating System is installed, you will not be able to expand the "System Area" without re-install. If
you are thinking, that the "System Area" will only contain OS, as you are installing every Application software over a different partition, think again, as
every time you install a new software, some files will be added to the "System Area" and as it grows in size, your PC will boot more slowly if there is less
and less free space around.
2. Getting rid of junk data : Make it a practice to get rid of you cookies and temp files regularly and you will be surprised to discover how much free space
it generates. If you can't do it manually, if you may consider investing in a small piece of software, that does it for you.
3. Registry : If you are a Windows person, like me, I am quite sure, you have faced registry blues. While windows registry is not all complex like it sounds,
I prefer not to tamper with it much rather use a reliable software to fix and optimize it. Remember if your Registry is holding too much unnecessary data, it
will slow down your PC.
Soon it became evident, that I was spending more than 90 minutes every week, trying to get my PC Performance back in shape. It's then I decided to invest in
a software that will
Improve PC Performance without me spending a lot of time into it.
There I have it, an easy way to
Quickly Improve PC Performance and all the related issues, that have been bugging me and
you so far.
